Classification

         Leuconostoc mesenteroides are classified as bacilli which is the shape of the individual bacteria.  The bacilli shape is a rod shaped.  The bacillus group relates to any group of bacteria that is rod shaped, gram positive, and aerobic.  Bacillus is widely found in soil and water. This particular bacteria is a species of bacteria that is associated with fermentation, under conditions of salinity and low temperatures

i)        Salinity- a sterile solution of sodium chloride used to dilute medications of for intravenous therapy
