Habitat

Leuconostoc Mesenteroides can be found in soil or water.  They are also found in sugar cane.  They seep through the wounds of the sugar cane causing it to become a thick substance called dextran. They usually inhabit nutrient-rich environments such as milk, meat, vegetable products and fermented drinks.

This is a picture of cut sugar cane, one of the places where you would find Leuconostoc Mesenteroides.
