Leuconostoc mesenteroides is used in the process of fermentation. Fermentation is the process of taking and getting energy from the oxidation of different organic compounds., such as carbs.
Sugar is a used in many everyday things; when glucose molecules are linked together they form dextran chains. Dextran is a thick substance that builds up through damaged sugar cane. It is caused by sugar eating bacteria that are attracted to openings and wounds of the jarvested or burned cane. The bacteria is called Leuconostoc Mesenteroides.
