Reproduction
Leuconostoc mesenteroides are a type of bacteria. They are single celled organisms, and the produce endospores. Spores form during times of enviornmental stress, such as lack of nutrients and moisture needed for growth, and thus is a survival strategy. Spores don't have a metabolism and can withstand different extreme conditions such as heat, disinfectants, and ultraviolet light. When the environment becomes favorable to the spore it will germinates and giving rise to a single vegetative bacterial cell.
They produce asexually by fission which means they reproduce on their own.
This is a picture of an endospore.
